The understanding of Somatic concept is substrate of several new processes, including the "Body-Mind Centering ®", created by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in 1973, in United States. Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) is a continuous journey in the experimental living area and in change body, where the explorer is the mind. During this journey we are able to better understand how the mind is expressed through our movement. As Bonnie Cohen says "The mind is like the wind, and the body is like the sand; if you want to know how the wind is blowing, look at the sand." The body moves to how the mind moves. The qualities of movement are the manifestation of how the mind is expressed through the body at that time. Changes in quality of movement indicates a change of focus of the mind on the body. Conversely, when we direct our mind or attention to different areas of the body and started the movement from these areas, we change the quality of our movement. "Movement is a way to observe the expression of the mind through the body and can also be a way to influence change in mind-body connection." BMC is currently being applied in many areas of interest such as: arts of dance and movement, dance therapy and speech, psychotherapy, medicine, child development, voice, music, visual arts, meditation, yoga, athletics, martial arts and other disciplines of body-mind.
